Track and Field
Track and Field Section
The Track and Field section operates
primarily through the summer months October
till April. The Club consists of a wide range of
athletes, including those who are competitive at
national level as well as those who are beginners.
It caters for those competitive or interested in all events, from short sprints to longer distances, as
well as field events.

Events
Major events include Race Walking, Short & Long Sprints, Middle and Long Distance events, Hurdles, Pole Vault, High, Long and Triple Jump, Discus, Javelin and Shot Put.

Competition
This summer there is an exciting program. Club members compete most Saturdays at the
Athletics Wellington Inter-clubs held at Newtown Park Stadium. Interspersed throughout the
summer months are a range of regional and national competitions, notably the Regional
League Competitions and the NZ Secondary Schools Championships, as well as the Athletics NZ Track and Field Championships that will be held in Christchurch in late March. Please note if you are not a member of a Club then you will be required to pay to compete. Please refer to the calendar page for important dates of competitions to be held this year.

Annual Fees
The annual fee structure varies depending upon your activity requirements, from a nominal fee
for Recreational Members, to a fee inclusive of membership of Athletics New Zealand for
Active members who wish to participate in Inter Club, cross country, road and other affiliated
races. You will not need to make this decision until you have experienced several weeks with us
and decided on your own ambitions.
